about

like many, my story of craft begins with my grandmother. as a child, I was blessed with many intricately knit, handmade gifts, and also benefited from her instructions. I began making my own creations as a teenager- most of which were unfortunate looking swatches. And then I promptly forgot about knitting for a few years.

recently, my husband and I moved half way around the world. We currently live in Marburg, Germany. As I began to settle in and learn a new language, I turned to knitting and craft as a way to calm my mind. It was a comfort and solace throughout the first few months of homesickness and learning how to live in a brand new country.

This blog is a place for me to share my craft, my inspiration and my experience of leaving home and moving somewhere new. It's a space for my words to breathe out in the open- for me to take the risk and hit publish, sharing my thoughts and experiences and what I've learned to be true. Thank you for stopping by! I'm so glad you're here.

New Reader? This post is a really great place to start.

You can see some of my favorite posts about knitting & craft here. And a few of my favorite posts about life in Germany here

about raincloud & sage.

raincloud & sage is the name of my Etsy shop, which I started shortly after our rather sudden cross-continental move. I am the maker and designer behind this business.

For a year and a half I sold ready-knit items in the shop, and also took custom orders, working together with individuals to design the perfect item for a loved one. In the Spring of 2015, I decided to close up shop. I still sell patterns through Ravelry. (You can view them here)

I may reopen the shop again in the Fall, but in the meantime you can read more about it here

Thanks so much for stopping by!
